I am based in South West London, and have a background in Engineering for over 25 years.
Although I have over 20 years experience within addiction, I began my academic journey into Counselling in 2014.
That started with a two year A level in Psychology, which led onto studying levels 1- 3 in counselling and Psychotherapy.
After this, I went on to do a two year Diploma in Counselling. Within this time I worked for Mind Uk seeing a range of clients dealing with loss, addiction, anxiety, depression, obessive thinking and more.
I am a member of the BACP which is a governing body that sets a standard of training and ethical working practice. Click here to see video for more details on ethical framework.
I have continued CPD training in the area I work in. Please see below for the latest details.
Alongside one to one client work, I currently work one day a week at a major residential treatment centre, dealing with addiction. I facilitate group work looking at alcohol and other addictions along side family trauma, gender norms and our relationship to food.
I have over 20 years experience working in 12 step recovery, have attended a residential inner child workshop, (Heal for life). trained in Nonviolent Communication, and have been involved in men's therapy groups.
Addiction runs across many areas such-as; sex, food, gambling, on-line gaming, crypto and shopping. I help clients see what their triggers are, and how to work through them, or if needed, explore their family of origin to see if that might be impacting them to act-out in an addictive way.
In addition, I work with grief, and loss which can take many forms; death of a partner, friend or family member, loss of health, or coming to terms with the losses that we can go through in life.
My approach to therapy is rooted in collaboration, and mutual respect. I believe that every person possesses their own inner strength and resilience, and my role is to provide guidance and support along your journey towards healing and self-discovery. By employing evidence-based therapeutic techniques, such as person centred, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioural therapy, mindfulness practices, and solution-focused therapy, I strive to empower you with practical tools and strategies that can be applied to everyday life.
I am committed to ongoing professional development and staying up-to-date with the latest research and therapeutic techniques. This dedication allows me to provide you with the highest quality care and ensure that our sessions are tailored to meet your evolving needs.
I am registered with the BACP. This is a governing body which I have to be qualified to join, commit to work ethically, and to continue ongoing training.
